In Your Leisure Time…

If you’re a Science or History buff,
you’ll enjoy a leisurely stroll through the "Discovery" museum.
Exhibits take you through an intriguing chronological journey from the area’s past into its present.
In this ground level museum, near the entrance to the walk-up trail, you’ll also find a movie room where you can listen and watch history being told and shown of the famous granite mountain, its discovery, its progress, and its evolution.
Spanning a 12,000-year time frame, the museum protects artifacts and stories from ancient civilizations that lived on the mountain to what has now become part of our Anniversary Blast.
(Of course, BGHS is not portrayed in the museum!)

Learn about Native Americans and pioneer settlers.
See how the community was affected by the Civil War and how Stone Mountain granite helped build the local economy.
Science, Ecology, and Commercialism at work together . . .
